Managers of the Amadeus global distribution system and the Polyet-Sirena joint stock company reached an understanding on the integration of the Sirena-2000 automated air ticket sales system into the global network. Today, the Sirena-200 Moscow centre provides control functions for 600 air routes flown by 104 CIS airlines, and works with over 6,000 ticket outlets all over Russia. Recently, the Sirena-2000's software and hardware have been upgraded to meet international standards. This allowed work on data transfer between the Sirena-2000 and the Amadeus to start. Operational trials of the interface software are planned for October. Should the trials be successful, Amadeus users will be able to book seats on Russian airlines's flights. In turn, Sirena-2000 users will be able to book seats on flights of the world's leading airlines, as well as to having access to other Amadeus services, such as hotel room reservation.(IN998.3) (VK)
