Traffic grows by 2% in the period

Published: 3/27/2000

Kuban Airlines based in Krasnodar, 51% owned by the state and the balance by the airline's employees, has reported that passenger traffic grew by 2% in 1999 to 511,000 passengers carried on the airline's fleet of 11 Yak-42s, four An-24s and three An-26s. International routes saw a decline of 6% to 84,000 passengers, but this was offset by 3% growth on domestic routes. Cargo traffic for the airline grew by 20% to 3,600 tonnes. Courtesy of inflation and a good recovery the airline's ruble revenues in 1999 grew by 69% to 553m rubles ($19.75m).The airline achieved these growth figures despite considerable attrition in its fleet , which was reported to contain 13 An-24s and 13 An-26s at the end of 1998.
