Flight agreements

India reaches flight agreements with Romania and Uzbekistan

Published: 2/16/2000

India has recently concluded deals with both Romania and Uzbekistan, relating to flights between the three countries, according to Reuters. Uzbek Airways will now be permitted to fly to the Northern Indian city of Armritsar and the southern Indian city of Trivandrum, in exchange for Indian access to Samarkand and Bukhara. The agreement also allows Uzbek Airways to operate on the additional routes, should Air India decide not to take them up. For Romanian state airline, TAROM, an agreement with Air-India over the payment of royalties of $50 per passenger has been struck, with a cut to $36. This should allow the airline to resume flights to India.
