Novgorod repair facility certified for meeting state standards for aircraft overhaul

The Aviation Overhaul Plant (ARZ-123), based in Staraya Russa, has been granted a state certificate for meeting standards in overhaul and maintenance of aircraft of state aviation. The ceremony was attended by the Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Air Force, Colonel-General Anatoly Kornukov, and the Governor of Novgorod region, Mikhail Prusak. The plant is owned by the Ministry of Defence (MoD) and specialises in the overhaul of military cargo aircraft, including IL-76, IL-78 tanker and An-12, including engines and components. The press-service of the Novgorod administration reported that ARZ-123 also has certificates from the FSVT and Aviation Register of the Interstate Aviation Committee. According to the marketing department of ARZ-123, the financial position of the plant is now fairly stable. It has concluded long-term agreements on the overhaul of aircraft. In 1999, sales totalled 245m rubles ($9.4m), including 41m in the military sector. Its tax payments constitute two-thirds of the budget of Staraya Russa.
