Aircraft leaves runway at Kiev causing delays

Published: 1/20/2000

According to reports in Segodnya, on the evening of 17th January, a Yak-42 en route from Donetsk to Kiev, with 74 passengers on board, left the runway at Kiev Airport as it was landing. Vasily Mornot, General Director of the airport, said that no one was hurt in the incident. It took three hours to return the aircraft to the runway, resulting in the delay of five flights. An investigation is now underway into the accident that, according to local reports, is very similar to an incident last year, involving an An-24.
