Polish glider sale

Bankrupt glider producer up for sale for $2.7m

Published: 1/4/2000

According to media reports, a Polish company, Drogbud Corp., from Zory in southern Poland, and a German company, Aviontech, based in Hamburg, have both expressed interest in buying the bankrupt PZL Bielsko glider factory at Bielsko-Biala in southern Poland. The company entered bankruptcy after the collapse of partnership talks with Austrian light aircraft producer Diamond Aircraft Industries. Before its bankruptcy last May, PZL Bielsko was Poland's largest manufacturer of gliders, with three plants, including the factory at Bielsko-Biala employing 290 people. The company is reportedly being sold for 11.5m zlotys ($2.7m). Associated article: www.concise.org 19th May 1999
