East Line ten month figures show cargo volumes back at pre crisis levels
Published:
12/1/1999
East Line has reported robust figures for the period Jan-Oct 1999. During the first nine months of the year, the company carried 27,208 tonnes of cargo, so returning to pre-crisis levels. In August 1999, it made 220 flights, compared to 200 flights in August 1998. The number of flights increased to 236 cargo flights in October 1999. International flights constitute 95% of flights made, principally to China, UAE, Turkey, Italy, Germany, India and South Korea.
The overall cargo transportation market in Russia was hit hard by the crisis. Total volumes fell by 24% in 1998, compared to 1997, while passenger traffic decreased by 11% over the same period.
East Line"s results confirm that the cargo market is now beginning to show some signs of revival.
