Belarus to restore flights to United Arab Emirates in 2000
Published:
9/8/1999
According to a report in Interfax, the State Aviation Committee of Belarus is planning to establish a formal connection in 2000 between Belarus and the United Arab Emirates. To date, Belorussian carriers have used temporary instructions when flying to the Emirates.
Previously, Belorussian operators made several flights a week, using Tu-134s and Tu-154s, with most passengers comprising shuttle traders buying cheap hi-fi equipment and other goods for resale in Belarus. Changes in custom regulations resulted in traffic switching to other centres and so flights ceased, except for occasional cargo aircraft. It is assumed that the primary source of passengers will be business people and tourists.
