More Ka-32s for South Korea

Large South Korean order for Kamov helicopters after five years of successful operation

Published: 9/7/1999

Kumertau Aviation Production Enterprise (KAPP) and the South Korean firm, LG, have announced a preliminary agreement for what they claim is the largest helicopter transaction in the world. According to LG, the Russian helicopters purchased over the last five years have gained a positive reputation operating with among others the Korean Coast Guard and Seoul Fire Brigade. So far, the acquisition of 30 helicopters has been agreed, with the possibility of further cooperation. A maintenance base, set up in South Korea, enables LG to market Kumertau's product - mainly civilian version of the military helicopter Ka-27, the Ka-32.
